Our most popular gift! Our team of Savvy sommeliers share our discoveries of premium wines through Savvy Selections. Every month, three different bottles of premium VQA Canadian wine from a featured winemaker are delivered straight to the recipients’ home or office. These are wines that aren’t at the LCBO or SAQ — handpicked by a panel of sommeliers. With Savvy Selections the subscriber also gets to know the people and the stories behind the wines through our monthly eZine & can try some recipes of the we have chosen specifically to match each bottle.
Savvy Selections contains: Give a package that suits you best: 3-bottle package, 6-bottle package or 12-bottle package.
Price: The handpicked wine selection ranges between $12 and $25 per bottle. Each month, the Savvy Selection reflects the actual cost accordingly: your credit card is billed directly by the winery for total cost of the wines plus the winery’s shipping charge.

Taste the Difference Terroir Makes
The vineyards at Coyote’s Run Winery in Niagara, are uniquely situated on two very distinct types of soil: red clay and black clay. To illustrate the wine term ‘terroir’ and appreciate the difference soil make on the resulting taste of the wine, the winemaker has grown blocks of Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir grape varieties in both red and black clay. He harvested the grapes separately and processed the grapes in the identical winemaking fashion. The result is although same grape, you can taste the difference that terroir makes. A fun gift for any wine lover.

A Legendary Canadian Chardonnay
Truly a great Canadian story – legendary in fact. Six Canadian winemakers were ‘talking shop’ and the question was floated: ‘What if we aged wine in a barrel made with native Canadian oak?”. This idea peaked their interest and since barrels have never before been made with Canadian oak, the major challenge was to find an indigenous oak tree - found along the Grand River in Brantford, Ontario. Cut into staves, packed up in a hockey bag (a brand new one of course!) and shipped to a cooper (barrel maker), the novel idea became reality. The result? At Featherstone Estate Winery, winemaker David Johnson makes a distinctively delicious Chardonnay that is 100% Canadian and truly ‘local’ in every sense of the word.

A Passion for Pinot
Frederic Picard and Karen MacLaurin have sealed their friendship with a special limited edition private labeled wine. Karen was born and raised in Canada’s newest wine region - Prince Edward County, while Frederic is from Burgundy, France where since a child he has been surrounded by some of the world’s best Pinot Noir vineyards. Their friendship began at work - at Huff Estates Winery, where Frederic is the winemaker and Karen the Sales Manager. This wine is a celebration of their roots – Burgundy and the ‘County – and their passion for Pinot Noir wine. Ascribed on the hand written label, the wine like their friendship is “complex, it is delicate yet substantial. It will evolve over time. Above all, from its first encounter, it will make a lasting impression.” This wine can be cellared for a few years.

Thirty Three Vines Collection
The Savvy Company was involved in the grand opening of Prince Edward County’s newest winery – Thirty Three Vines this past June. The day included a Sommelier led wine tasting in Thirty Three Vines’ barrel room in the heritage barn that is now transformed into the winery. The festivities continued into the evening with a private concert featuring the Jim Cuddy Band. We are excited to showcase the inaugural collection of Thirty Three Vines wines. Debbie and a team of wine enthusiasts even helped with the harvest of Riesling grapes!
